King of Nations Round 1 - UAE - Top 32

Round One of the Federal Tyres King of Nations - World Drift Championship has come to an end. It was an incredible event featuring contenders from all over the World, each of them with their eyes on the coveted silverware. On a unique, custom built layout, the contenders were pushed to their limits as they were encouraged to use as much speed and style as possible throughout the weekend. This made for some extremely high-speed, intense battles which took place as the drivers increased in confidence with the track, showing both style and class while still maintaining door-to-door aggression throughout. Despite a strong sand storm taking place, the event continued as the drivers spent the morning carrying out tsuiso practice followed by the highly anticipated Top 32 battles. As the fans flocked to the area to witness the incredible entertainment on show, they certainly weren’t going to be disappointed as the insane powered smoke machines took to the stage. Top qualifier Ahmad Daham went head-to-head with Japanese driver Drift Zamurai in his Top 16 battle. Despite the huge amounts of power and skill on show from Daham in his S15, Zamurai would give the fans a treat by sitting on his door as much as he could in the SR20 S13 which he had borrowed for the event. Ultimately after a one more time and great show from both drivers, it would be Daham who would edge through to the Top 8. Federal Tyres King of Europe Veteran, UK driver Steve Biagioni would face Sultan Kayello in his Hyundai Genesis for their Top 16 battle. Once again after a great show from both drivers, it would go to one more time, eventually followed by sudden death, where Biagioni would unfortunately straighten his car and allow Kayello to advance to the Top 8. Ahmad Daham would once again succeed in his Top 8 battle, allowing him to advance to the Top 4, where he’d face Sultan Kayello who'd managed to knock out Ford Mustang driver Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani. Toyota GT86 pilot Ahmed Al Meri would knock out S13 driver Ali Albalushi, and French driver Nicolas Delorme would pass Sultan Al Qassimi. With Ahmad Daham going up against Sultan Kayello in the Top 4, it would see an extremely close first battle, followed by a 0-10 scoring in Kayello’s favour for the second. Delorme would go up against Ahmed Al Ameri to fight for the remaining final place. In an extremely close fought battle, Delorme would put up a great fight forcing a one more time, with Ahmed Al Ameri eventually edging his way through to the final against Kayello. Both Daham and Delorme had put on extremely impressive performances throughout the weekend, finishing first and second in qualifying along with fighting hard through their battles throughout the day. They would now go head-to-head in the Small Final, and it would ultimately be Delorme who would take the win, despite an equal 5-5 first run, the second run would finish 10-0 to hand Delorme third place. As the eagerly awaited final battle arrived, the first run would see Sultan Kayello make an unfortunate mistake, making it 10-0 to Ahmed Al Ameri in his Toyota GT86. The second battle would finish 6-4 in Ahmed Al Ameri’s favour, meaning that he would take the King of Nations and King of Desert Round 1 title! Second place would go to Sultan Kayello, Third place of King of Nations goes to Nicolas Delorme and Third place for King of Desert goes to Ahmad Daham. After an amazing start to the Federal Tyres King of Nations World Championship in the UAE, we now look foward to the next rounds. Federal Tyres King of Desert Round 2 will continue in Muscat, Oman on 5th February. With Federal Tyres King of Nations Round 2 taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26th and 27th March.
